Is There An Egg Donor Age Limit?

When women choose to donate their eggs with Everie, they are deciding to make a lasting impact on someone else’s life—as well as their own. Everie egg donors are bright, confident women who understand that their donation is part of a life-long connection and not a mere transaction. They also meet specific requirements, such as falling within a certain egg donor age limit and BMI range and being able to provide a full personal and familial medical history.

At What Age Can You Be an Egg Donor?

If you are considering becoming an egg donor, you have probably, at some point, searched the internet wondering how old you have to be to donate eggs. At Everie, our donors need to be at least 21 years old. Egg donation is a commitment, and this age requirement helps guarantee our donors are equipped with a certain level of maturity that can handle this sort of responsibility.

We want our donors to be well-informed and mature enough to understand the weight of their decision. During the pre-screening process, we will gather a lot of important information about you, including your medical and family history, lifestyle, and other personal information.

During the medical screening process, you will work with physicians, psychologists, and genetic counselors. This ensures you are not only physically and genetically ready, but also emotionally and psychologically able and ready to become an egg donor.

Why Is Egg Donor Age Important?

While our age requirement helps ensure our donors are mature enough to make such a life-changing decision, we have an age limit in place that guarantees the best possible outcome for you, your eggs, and your intended parents.

As a woman ages, the quantity and quality of her eggs begins to decline. This typically occurs in your mid- to late-30s. Therefore, the number of eggs likely to be retrieved within age ranges such as 20s, 30s, and 40s varies (and decreases) the older a woman gets.

Because IVF or surrogacy with donor eggs is an expensive option for families to chooseand can come after other emotionally and financially taxing fertility treatmentswe promise our intended parents that they are getting the best outcome possible.

In partnership with IVF clinics, our egg donor age limit is 29 years old so that we can ensure both you, the donor, and our intended parents have the best possible chance to conceive a child through egg donation.

Additional Egg Donor Requirements

The egg donor age limit is not our only requirement for potential donors. We have a few criteria that helps interested women know whether or not they might qualify to become an egg donor:
