Benefits of Choosing Known Egg Donors

At Everie, we offer 3 distinct types of egg donations: known (or disclosed), semi-known, and ID release donations. Each one offers varying degrees of identity disclosure for the egg donor, designed to accommodate different comfort levels and preferences. While each one has its own implications to consider, we promote and encourage using known egg donors—known—as the standard for intentional, informed, and inclusive decision-making during our Mutual Matching™ process.

Disclosed Donations: What Are They?

Three types of egg donation fall under the “disclosed” category.

  • A known egg donor is someone who chooses to disclose her full identity and contact information with you. A known donor will not only meet you but is also open to cultivating a relationship with you.

  • A semi-known egg donation means the donor is willing to meet you but may not want to provide their contact information initially. This allows them to have some privacy while also getting to know you and deciding if they want to exchange contact information.

  • An ID-release donation type means the donor does not want to meet or exchange contact information with you. It allows your future donor-conceived child the right to request information about their egg donor once they are of legal age.

What Are the Benefits of Disclosed Donations?

In alignment with the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), we promote and advocate for disclosed donation types. Here are a few reasons why!

You'll build your own special bond.

In choosing a disclosed donation type, you are giving yourself the opportunity to form a unique relationship with your egg donor or, at the very least, giving your child the chance to do so in the future. When specifically choosing a known egg donor, you will get the chance to form a meaningful relationship with your donor. This encourages both parties to confidently and enthusiastically embark on a shared fertility journey.

Your future child(ren) will know their story.

With disclosed egg donations, you are providing your future child(ren) with the opportunity to know their full origin. Known donations are an open door into your child’s history, allowing them the chance to know about the incredible, compassionate woman who helped build your family. Even with ID-released donations, your child will have the chance to access contact information for your egg donor if they choose to do so when they are 18 or older.

This is just the beginning.

When you choose to grow your family through the incredible process of egg donation, the Mutual Matching™ process is just the beginning of your story together. Disclosed egg donation gives you the chance to form a lifelong relationship with your donor. Known and semi-known donation, in particular, welcomes and nurtures an active, ongoing relationship between your egg donor, you, and any children you might create together. Learn more about this in our related blog post.

Choose your own path.

Regardless of the donation type you feel comfortable with, we will support you and take care of you and your needs every step of the way. Our top priority is always going to be you and your freedom of choice. These are just some wonderful benefits to consider when choosing the right donation type for you and your growing family. If you haven't yet begun your family-building path, we're happy to help you explore your egg donation options.
